Summary

HER PERFECT LIFE IS A PERFECT LIE。

As a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School, Ani FaNelli endured a shocking, public humiliation that left her desperate to reinvent herself。 Now, with a glamorous job, expensive wardrobe, and handsome blue blood fiancé, she’s this close to living the perfect life she’s worked so hard to achieve。

But Ani has a secret。

There’s something else buried in her past that still haunts her, something private and painful that threatens to bubble to the surface and destroy everything。

With a singular voice and twists you won’t see coming, Luckiest Girl Alive explores the unbearable pressure that so many women feel to “have it all” and introduces a heroine whose sharp edges and cutthroat ambition have been protecting a scandalous truth, and a heart that's bigger than it first appears。

The question remains: will breaking her silence destroy all that she has worked for—or, will it at long last, set Ani free?

🖤 Luckiest Girl Alive - Jessica Knoll 3。5 ⭐️ - well, I’m very torn about this one。 I listened to it on audio, which was great, but the content had me feeling all over the place and constantly switching sides about how I felt。 I went in blind… I do NOT recommend doing that。 I wanted to read before the movie comes out (10/7) and just jumped right in。 Do not follow in my footsteps - look up the trigger/content warnings prior。 TiffAni FaNelli endures public humiliation at her private prestigious hig 🖤 Luckiest Girl Alive - Jessica Knoll 3。5 ⭐️ - well, I’m very torn about this one。 I listened to it on audio, which was great, but the content had me feeling all over the place and constantly switching sides about how I felt。 I went in blind… I do NOT recommend doing that。 I wanted to read before the movie comes out (10/7) and just jumped right in。 Do not follow in my footsteps - look up the trigger/content warnings prior。 TiffAni FaNelli endures public humiliation at her private prestigious high school。 She grows up to have a high profile job and a trust fund baby fiancée, but she also has a secret。 This book changes POVs from her past and present to set the scene of her secrets and how it effects her present。 This book was good。 I enjoyed the way it was written (again, big change of POVs fan) but it has some heavy conversational content topics。 At times, I thought it was great and I was hooked。 At other times, I was disgusted and annoyed。 I recommend, but I recommend with caution。 That being said, can’t wait to see the movie and how this is done 😬 。。。more

What a wild ride! This is what you call an unexpected twist。 I’m not sure I feel a particularly good understanding of what/why the protagonist is the way she is - some of the pieces seem to be not quite right。 However, I’ve never… been through all that she’s experienced。 Holy cow。

For about 90% of the story, I hated the main character。 I hated the commentary of a young, self-centered teenage girl。 This book definitely was not a thriller in any way。 It did have a turn I didn't expect about 60% of the way through, and it sort of picked up then, but for the most part it was just slightly underwhelming。 For about 90% of the story, I hated the main character。 I hated the commentary of a young, self-centered teenage girl。 This book definitely was not a thriller in any way。 It did have a turn I didn't expect about 60% of the way through, and it sort of picked up then, but for the most part it was just slightly underwhelming。 。。。more

Could not finish this one。All of these twisty chick thrillers seem to be exactly the same now。 Lots of gratuitous foul language (are there no other adjectives besides f&%*#ing?) and sex。 The main character here is extraordinarily unlikeable, and contradicts herself almost constantly。 It just about caused me whiplash, trying to keep up with her changing points of view of things。 It's clear that she feels nothing for her rich, attractive fiance, who at first seemed like an OK guy and then got less Could not finish this one。All of these twisty chick thrillers seem to be exactly the same now。 Lots of gratuitous foul language (are there no other adjectives besides f&%*#ing?) and sex。 The main character here is extraordinarily unlikeable, and contradicts herself almost constantly。 It just about caused me whiplash, trying to keep up with her changing points of view of things。 It's clear that she feels nothing for her rich, attractive fiance, who at first seemed like an OK guy and then got less and less likeable too。 Honestly, I didn't care enough to read on to find out what the second supposed secret that could ruin her life was。 Did she end up with Luke or not? Did she split up Mr。 Whatshisface and wife and ride off into the twisted sunset with him? Who cares? Who cares about the constant barrage of designer name dropping? Who cares about any of it? 。。。more

It had everything it needed to be a well-formed story。 Took me a while to come around to the main character, then when I finally felt I understood her she went completely flat。 Felt the ending left more to be desired。 Still an enjoyable journey。

More like 2。5。 There was some authentic, heavy writing, but the way the plot and protagonist shook out in the present timeline really irked me。

Really liked the whole book and thought the narrator was such an interesting character。 Felt the end was very weak and forced which dragged the whole thing down a bit

I wanted to read about Liam’s and Peyton’s families reactions to what kind of sons they actually had and I DEFINITELY wanted to read the fallout from Dean’s confessions! I also wanted more of the aftermath to calling off her wedding。 Lastly, I know it’s wrong since both Ani and Andrew were in relationships and he even has kids, but I won’t lie, I definitely wanted them to end up together。 。。。more

This book felt promising but then it spiraled into a half-baked story stuffed with every trigger warning you could think of, culminating in an ending that doesn’t redeem the rest of that。

So this was just a dumb page turner kind of book。 When I picked it up, I thought for some reason it was a thriller/mystery but it is not。 Instead, it is about the ways that trauma and abuse can follow one forever。 I like Knoll's position: she emphasizes all the ways we blame the victim, normalizes and explains how people can "be okay" with what happened to them without really understanding it, and shows the many ways in which societal/familial/social expectations warp perceptions。 For 90% of the So this was just a dumb page turner kind of book。 When I picked it up, I thought for some reason it was a thriller/mystery but it is not。 Instead, it is about the ways that trauma and abuse can follow one forever。 I like Knoll's position: she emphasizes all the ways we blame the victim, normalizes and explains how people can "be okay" with what happened to them without really understanding it, and shows the many ways in which societal/familial/social expectations warp perceptions。 For 90% of the book, I emphathized with Ani but didn't really like her; at the very end I appreciated that she finally rejected everyone else's control over her life and started to make some real choices on her own。Nothing special here, just an easy read that tackles some tough topics (gang rape and pressure to conform)。 。。。more

This book had the basic outline of being a good book。 I typically enjoy books that are written in this format, switching between the past and present。 However, I thought it was just trying to be a good plot, not actually a good plot, if that makes sense。 I thought it was predictable at some points, but the plot didn't make sense at other points。 It seems like the author found a genre that sold and tried to emulate it, but wasn't able to actually execute her plan for telling the story。 I'm still This book had the basic outline of being a good book。 I typically enjoy books that are written in this format, switching between the past and present。 However, I thought it was just trying to be a good plot, not actually a good plot, if that makes sense。 I thought it was predictable at some points, but the plot didn't make sense at other points。 It seems like the author found a genre that sold and tried to emulate it, but wasn't able to actually execute her plan for telling the story。 I'm still unclear what exactly happened in the ending, though I was able to see the ending coming。 It was an okay read, but wouldn't say I loved it。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this as an audiobook。 So many layers and twists and turns, with several unexpected ones in the last third。 The average rating on Goodreads at 3。52 is way too low。 I give it 4。5 stars, rounded up。 Can't wait to see the movie coming on Netflix!
